“Well, you know how I told you the whip of Andolla is known as the whip of ‘An dollin’ out punishment?” I say.

“Yes, get to the point.”

“Well, these are the guns of Eingonda.”

“And?” Flynn sounds exasperated, and a little scared by the sight of the guns.

Anyone would be though. Luckily, they won’t be pointed at him.

“As in, Ein Gonda KILL YOU!” I shout, as we reach the door.

“Boreas, I need your help. Flynn too, if he can be spared.”

I look up from my place at breakfast. I always take breakfast very seriously.

Flynn does as well, and he’s over making a muffin for me, spreading the jam I like on it by the main food table.

Flynn sees us talking and walks over. “What is it, Moonbow?”

Moonbows hands are in tight fists, and he’s wearing gray armor I haven’t seen him in before. He also has his wand out.

“Put that thing away!” A mushroom guard yells, coming over to us. “Dangerous.”

“I can’t,” Moonbow says. “It came out when I heard one of my bonds telling me something was happening, and it won’t go away until I go do something about it. Someone is going to be killed. They are going to be sacrificed.”

I’m up immediately, almost ready to pull out my wand as well.

“I can make a portal, but there will be many bad fae there. Goblins and witches, too, I hear. I will need your magic, Boreas. And you said I could come to you with any gay issues.”

“I will always help with such things,” I say. “I would give my life for them. They will always have my magic, if they are worthy.”

“They are. These are slaves who live in tunnels. I need help freeing them, and some have already gotten out. But one was captured while escaping, and the fae there, they have been fattening him up to be food—“

Flynn looks like he could burst into flame. “I’m with you. Both of you. Let’s burn them to the ground.” He puts out a hand and hellfire lights in his palm. “I’ll burn them to a crisp for even thinking they could hurt a dragon. I’m assuming it’s a dragon.”

Moonbow nods. “That’s usually who they eat.”

My heart is broken just hearing of such things, but it only lights my determination to do more.

The mushroom guard stares at Flynn’s hand. “Need I remind you all you are in a sacred palace of the most high king of kings?!”

“No time for such thoughts, Hyrax,” I say. “Bring me the royal weapon belt.”

“And the whip of Andolla,” Flynn mutters.

“I have way better things than that, for something like this, where time is of the essence,” I say.

Hyrax snaps his finger and a belt appears, with leather pockets holding shrunken weapons inside each of them.

They will grow when I take them out.

No one will see them until they are needed.

But these are the most dangerous things my people possess, and I will use them all for these dragons, and fairies, underground.

“Come here, Flynn,” Moonbow says, making a portal with his hand. “I’ll have you go in first with me. Your hellfire has a fast response.”

“You’re damned right it does,” he says.

I’m kind of glad to see them working together.

“Swears!” Hyrax says, but he looks stymied when we all send him a glare. “Fine, what should I tell your father?”

“Tell him I’m doing what he trained me to do. Defending those I’m aligned with using my magic.” I check that my belt is strapped on right, that the weapons are easy to access. “All right, Moonbow, lead the way.”

We step into the swirling void, and I feel the three of us fly across the galaxy to another planet.

One made of dark gray metal. The air here smells sour. I feel us sucked underground, and into the tunnels.

It’s so dark down here, I think.

“Lume!” Flynn says, and one of his hands lights up, glowing like a lantern. The other burns with his hellfire.

I can’t believe I’ve never seen him use a spell before.

“Thanks,” Moonbow says. “To both of you.”

As we move forward, we hear yelling and footsteps rushing toward us.

We are ambushed by a wave of teenagers, kids really, all shouting at us at once.

“Save him!” They all yell. “Save Radeos!”

“We will,” I say.

“They have him in the sacrifice room! Oh gods, they’re going to kill him.”

“They won’t,” I say. “Not unless they want to fuck with a god for doing so. Or die a thousand horrible deaths.”

“He’s down there at the end of the tunnels!” They yell.

One of them runs alongside, maybe his boyfriend. “We tried to fight, but they took him. I love him, please save him!”

“We will,” I insist. No matter what happens, I will bring him back to his friends.

I will anhiliate everything in our pathway.

“What are we facing?” Moonbow asks. “Give us an idea of weapons and power.”

“Chaos fae,” the kid says. “Nightmares. And a bunch of goblins who have eaten dragon blood and unicorn fluids. They’re hungry and desperate, they won’t go down easily.”

I move in front of Flynn and Moonbow. “You guard the kids, I’m going to handle this.”

“The room is locked, hidden behind some kind of odd metal,” a kid says.

“My hellfire can handle it. No way you leave me behind.”

“And I’ll be there to help dispel illusions,” Moonbow says. “These kids can handle themselves. Can’t you feel that about them? They’re strong.”

I nod. “You all stay back then. We can only focus on one rescue mission. That said, we should be able to hear you in mindspace, so if something happens, please call.”

They nod and yell assent and we go past them down the hall. It’s so dark here and so musty. The ground below is hard earth, the walls a dark, sticky rock when I bump into it from moving too quickly.

Made for narrow shoulders, not broad ones above kingly heft.

“Don’t get stuck,” Flynn says. “I don’t have time to get turned on right now.”

I shake my head. “I’m not that big yet.”

“Save it for the bedroom you two,” Moonbow says. “Not the time.”

“It’s always the time,” Flynn says.

We’re still rushing down the hallway, which seems interminably long, but I see lights up ahead, faintly, finally.

I hear yelling, a defiant male voice. That must be the boy.

So he’s still fine, that’s a relief.

If not, I would have had to use my other power to save him.

But I would have saved him all the same.

I’m on fire to save this love. To do my first act truly helping the cause Moonbow brought to us.

A cause that is dear to my heart.

I reach to my belt and flick open two pockets, one on each side.

Giant guns rise out of them, the size of a human gatling gun, usually to be carried on shoulders, or mounted.

But with dragon strength surging in me, the need to protect those I’m aligned with. I’m strong enough to hold one in each hand. They have good grips with generous trigger guards. I put a finger over each trigger.

Flynn stares over at me, bug-eyed. “What in hellfire are those?”

They flash in the darkness, filled with glowing blue fluid. The worst thing in the universe, and I’m going to use it on these fucks. Best of all, it will only hurt the bad people, not me or Flynn or Moonbow or the boy.

It will cover everything, raining down damnation worse than any hellfire on all who would hurt someone else like this.
