“But Flynn, you called me your soul bond.”

“Tell me again, where did he touch you?”

Flynn has me tied to the bed, naked for his perusal.

“This is an odd way to decontaminate,” I whine.

“No it’s not. I need to see everything to be able to lick it. I need to erase his touch.”

“You were there in time, he didn’t do anything.”

Flynn eyes me, and my body tingles with anticipation. I love it when he’s mad sometimes, when it’s for the right reasons.

I just love my fiery fire fae.

He’s just so perfect for me.

“I swear, it’s fine,” I say. “Let’s just make love, Flynn. That’s decontamination enough.”

“You know that’s not how it works for our people,” I say. “I have to remove his touch.”

“You were on time!”

“I was not,” I say darkly. “This is your last chance to be honest, Boreas Everfrost the Third. Then I go crazy on you everywhere. For days if I have to. Don’t make me get crazy.”

“But—“

“Boreas, your lip is bleeding and bruised! I know he must have done something!”

I feel caught by that. I forgot about the kiss.

“I’m sorry, it slipped my mind. He did kiss me. Put his tongue in, when he was enraged that I wasn’t scared, because I kept saying you would come.”

Flynn sits up, straddling my legs, looking oddly touched by that. “You believed in me?”

I nod. “I have no reason not to.”

“I heard your call,” he said. “I’m sorry I let him kiss you.”

“You didn’t let him,” I say. “To me, you were on time. Fate happens.”

Flynn leans forward, over my belly, sealing his lips over mine, licking over the top and then the bottom, being so achingly gentle it makes me squirm against my bonds. He moves down over my chest, licking over the spots where there were buttons.

“Flynn, he put his tongue in,” I say, because I haven’t been kissed enough.

I’ll never have been kissed enough when it’s him.

He smirks, then comes up to kiss me, swiping his tongue deep inside as his hands continue to grope at my chest. “Gods, you feel amazing. You’re so gorgeous, Boreas, and you’re all mine.”

He begins kissing down my chest again, pausing wherever there would be a button. I’m sure he knows by heart after undoing them so much.

“I am yours, aren’t I?” I ask. “Your soul bond.”

He nods. “No use trying to hide it now.”

“Why hide it at all?” I ask.

His scarlet hair falls over his face as he sits up to face me. “I can’t sense anywhere else he touched you. He only barely got your belt buckle open, and you had clothing on under it.”

I nod.

“But Flynn, you called me your soul bond.”

He goes deeply red, turning away. “Then I suppose you are, given how I pulled out my wand. But it makes me feel vulnerable, since I don’t know if we can be together. If you feel the same way—“

“Flynn, I pulled out my wand on that ice witch who tried to kidnap you, remember? Have you seen me do that at any other time?”

Flynn shakes his head.

“So there, you see. Now untie me, if you’re satisfied I’m decontaminated. I want to hold you while we make love. I want to be close to you, feel your hair and your body, make you as crazy as you make me.

I snap my hands, letting the bonds holding him release.

“All right, just this time.”

We make love then, slow and easy, so intense it’s hard to bear.

When we’re done and he’s over me, gasping, I run my hands through his hair, just wondering at how lucky I am for him to be mine.

“Oh Brett, you make my heart feel so turbulent, so scared and overwhelmed with love. And then you seem to soothe it, make me feel all safe again.”

“And you’re like a comet, burning so brightly you light up the sky, making it seem like a miracle that I even get to share the same space as you, let alone hang on.”

“That’s the nicest thing anyone has said to me," Flynn says.

“I’m going to have to keep topping it,” I say, pulling him in for a kiss. “Over and over for all of our lives. Marry me, Flynn?”

I nod against his mouth, not caring what comes after this or who we have to reject from our lives or who we have to fight.

Tonight, I just want to say, ‘yes’.
